hey guys just if ur wondering how to do it.
what u need is a 2L and a pack of mentos first take the paper wraping off the mentos not the tin foil wrapping though then drop the whole pack in it put the lid on then shake like mad. when the reaction starts to happen inside turn the lid just a little bit so it fizzes out of the bottle then throw to the ground and wacth it go.

Yes. It only works well with Diet Coke because of the additive that is in Diet Coke for sweetner. Some carbonated drinks work but not as well.

How do we know the pressure won’t create an explosion? Well, lets examine the science.
Why does it react this way? Most people think it’s just a chemical reacion. Actually, it’s both a chemical and physical reaction (though surprisingly more physical).
Pour a glass of diet soda. Now drap an ice cube in. What happens? Bubbles form around the cube. This is a natural reaction for anything. Drop in some salt. A penny. A straw. Anything will cause the carbon dioxide conatined in the soda to break away from the water molecules.
So, what causes such a violent reaction with Mentos and not another foreign object, say a glass marble?
As I’ve explained, anything will cause soda to “fizz”, but something work better than others. It has to do with surface area. Mentos are coverd in tiny dimples, wich is perfect for CO2 molecules to latch onto. Ice doesn’t fizzle as much because it’s smooth. That’s the physical aspect.
Mentos also contian an ingredient (gum arabic, I think) that loosens the surface tension held between the sugar, water, and CO2 molecules. That’s the chemical aspect. Then consider that Mentos sink in the soda, and disolve, and you get a very violent reaction.
We’ve all probably seen dry ice bombs (or heard of them). They explode because a foriegn object (dry ice; solid carbon dioxide) actaully increases the amount of pressure in the conatiner, until the presure is too great to be contained.
Mentos will not increase the pressure any more than shaking the living hell out of the bottle of soda. All of the “pressure” is already in the bottle, just held at bay by the surface tension of the water and sugar molecules. Mentos will release it, but not add to it.
Is it perfectly safe? Probably not.
